Poladroid

ok, it's official. i'm kind of obsessed with this free application. and not only is it free, but it couldn't be easier to use. all you have to do is go to Poladroid, download it, and then start dragging jpg's into the desktop icon. really!

great! so what the hell is it? all it does is take your image, any image, and make it look like a polaroid. that's all, nothing crazy. i mean sure, you could do it in photoshop, but why? Poladroid messes with the colors, crops, and adds vignettes to give each photo a very realistic, instantly developed look. maybe it's just me, but i can't stop. send help? please?

Flickr Blow Up

When developers get bored at work, we get some cool new applications. Blow Up is just such an example. It's a Flickr viewing tool to help you browse through albums a lot quicker, and maybe even in a more aesthetically pleasing manner. I haven't played with it that much, so I'm not necessarily endorsing it quite yet. But I'm down to give it a go. How about you?

now all i need is a giant table...

Japanese photographer Hitomi Toyama has created the world's largest photo album. Yes, it's true folks, I know you've been waiting.

This bad boy weighs over 1000 kgs and has secured a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. It is entitled "Women of Vietnam" and includes over 53 photos taken by Toyama...it also takes two people to turn a page.

Dreams Of Flying

Jan von Holleben is a photographer with an interesting project called Dreams Of Flying. He works from a ladder, manipulating the angle and perspective of the shot. I think, however, that i might like the inspired photography that (was taken by kids!) even more. i think it's probably because i secretly want to do one, too.

(and an inspired piece:)
