Word Clock

like simple and elegant screensavers? me too. that's why i like Word Clock. It's a typographic screensaver that "displays a fixed list of all numbers and words sufficient to express any possible date and time as a sentence. Word Clock displays time by highlighting appropriate words as each second passes."

Right now it's only available for Mac OSX.

through thick and thin

i'm currently working on a weight loss product and i've spent countless hours reading blogs on dieting, fat acceptance, and everything in between. it just so happens that i already have a specific blog that i love (Marshmallow!). she's a great writer, is funny, honest, and totally inspiring. but over the last week i've been getting to know (well, virtually at least) so very many other bloggers, and it's totally drawing me in. i've learned so much from them, and see myself in many entries.

no, i don't have any specific point here, but this research is so compelling. and why wouldn't it be? i can relate to almost all of them. and here i am working on a weight loss product! argh. forgive me, bloggers. but i will try my best.

sometimes at work...

now all i need is a giant table...

Japanese photographer Hitomi Toyama has created the world's largest photo album. Yes, it's true folks, I know you've been waiting.

This bad boy weighs over 1000 kgs and has secured a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. It is entitled "Women of Vietnam" and includes over 53 photos taken by Toyama...it also takes two people to turn a page.

This Ain't No Disco

But it's also not where I work. hmf. Well, in any case, I've known about this site for a while, but I decided to post about it anyway. You've probably already seen it, but This Ain't No Disco is a "portfolio of some of the best agency interiors in the world."

Really, it's just a bunch of ego stroking. Agencies with a bunch of green and a great interor designer showing off their spaces. Ugh. But aren't ad agencies supposed to be cool? Apparently some of them really are. Me? I have my friend Renee come in and say things like "Oh. I thought your office was going to be way cooler. I mean, I was at least expecting hardwood floors..."

Oh well. Maybe someday I'll have hardwood floors. I'll make sure to bring my Lamposaurus with me, though. Fear not.

So Frikkin' Bad-Ass

This really has nothing to do with anything, 'cept coolness.

I'm so intrigued by volcanos. I want to see one in real life one of these days.

DB Clay

i use one of those funny "magic" wallets, mainly because i'm lazy. it's easy to throw my cashmoney in there and not worry about how/where. all of a sudden it's just in there!

but. if i were ready to get a big-girl wallet i know where i'd head: DB Clay. this Portland-based store has awesome wallets in so many great designs, not to mention a pretty website. what can i say...i'm a sucker.

Cabspotting

Wow. This is really awesome. And beautiful. Cabspotting is a website run by the Exploratorium here in SF, and tracks cabs in the city. I think they describe it best:

The patterns traced by each cab create a living and always-changing map of city life. This map hints at economic, social, and cultural trends that are otherwise invisible. The Exploratorium has invited artists and researchers to use this information to reveal these "Invisible Dynamics."

JUST GO LOOK!

Iceland Socks

Time for today's second weird link. Iceland Express has come up with Iceland Socks, a strange little microsite in which the user controls...well...sock puppets. The point? You select a pair of socks and customize their experience in Iceland with a selectioin of video backdrops and custom subtitles. Then, you know, send it to a friend.

There are two links to the Iceland Express website where you can go directly into booking your flight. But where do the sock puppets come from? Why? Is this popular? What's going on?!
