It Looks Good (no really, it does)

This semester has been one hellova ride. My website is coming along quite nicely, if a do say so myself. I've finally finished a round 1 final, working file and am going to clean it up this week—hopefully be live by next? One can dream.

In any case, I'm going to hark back to the early days of the semester and share a link to a portfolio site I recently came across. It Looks Good is a do-anything design conglomerate with a very interesting (and dare I say bold) website. The navigation is anything but ordinary, but still pretty easy use. Plus I really like throwing the little heads around.

honibe joy. how...sweet.

I'm always on the lookout for innovation within a category, even honey. So i'm impressed that someone finally came up with a "solid" non-sticky honey you can easily take with you. Our Canadian friends at Honibe created the Honey Drop so that us tea-lovers can take our honey with us, and leave behind the messy bears.

Hulu

I could go on and on about TV spots, their slow demise, and my dislike of Comcast. But I think we all know that story (well, except maybe the part about my feelings for the cable company). So instead I bring to you a new TV and Movie aggregator: Hulu.

No longer do we have to go to individual network websites to watch episodes in painfully slow media players. No longer do we miss out on shows we may have never heard of. No longer do we deal with horrid cable packages. Now we can just watch Hulu. And get some full length feature movies, ta boot.

I like free things, don't you?

Le Coq Sportif

We can handle video. We can handle photos. and text. and marketing. and products. and filters. and browsing. and favorite-ing. and and and. But how about all at the same time in one huge blast of information? Le Coq Sportif is trying a new site on for size and doing just that.

Turns out I can handle it. How about you?

And yes, I said favorite-ing.

Flickr: Now Featuring Video

well, only if you're a Pro member, that is. but hey! welcome to the land of moving pictures, Flickr. Honestly, I have to admit I was a bit surprised when I signed into my account and had the option of uploading a video. I guess I just never thought about it. I use Viddyou to host all my (totally awesome) home vidds and Flickr for my photos. But combining them....wwwwhhhhhaaaaat? what a concept!

We Tell Stories: Digital Fiction

We already spend too much time staring at our moniters, so why not spend a little more? Now, instead of heading home, hopping into bed, and snuggling up with a good book, we can snuggle up with our...laptops.

Penguin has begun a series of stories that take place purely online, called We Tell Stories. The first book in the series is called 'The 21 Steps' and is told by following the story across maps of the world supplied by Google Maps. A series of familiar bubbles and markers pop up that you can read, explore, and follow into the next chapter.

Turning the page is now as simple as clicking 'next.' I know I'm intrigued.

Carlos Ulloa and Flash Magic

I know there are a lot of Flash haters out there. Sometimes, admittedly, I'm one of them. Especially when I want to do some 3D renders and the like (specifically on one of my latest projects, in which we were unable to render it the way i wanted to. luckily the developer had a few tricks up his sleeve).

This post, however, is not about M's tricks, but of Carlos Ulloa's. The man has taken flash, chewed on it, and spit out some really nice work. Go ahead, take a drive of your own.

Nike Dunk Low SB + Piet Mondrian

Art + Footwear = Awesome? Nike's taking inspiration from the De Stijl movement now, so it seems. These new kicks are made of nubuck and canvas, and might be pretty enough to hang on the wall.

Dropclock Screensaver

i'm not always on the lookout for a new screensaver, but this one really caught my eye. Dropclock is "an aesthetically intriguing motion clock screensaver. Every minute of real time is numerically expressed with heavy helvetica dropping into water in super slow-motion." it's really quite beautiful, and provides a clean wall to hide your desktop behind while you're at a meeting.

Urban Collectables

somebody please, please, please buy me this blue pidgeon ring necklace. it's just so fitting for my strange personality. i love it and hate it all at the same time.

thanks in advance.
